What Kind of Music Do You Engrave with LilyPond?

LilyPond can be used to engrave a wide variety of musical styles, although there are fields where it clearly performs better than in others.

Today I would like to get a better picture about what music LilyPond is actually being used for. Feel free to post a comment about any experiences you have had with a particular musical style. 🙂

You forgot categories for academics! Most of my LilyPond work is, in some sense, not even “music.” They are descriptive—not performance instructions.

I’m sorry. But I don’t really see what you mean. Could you please tell us in some more detail what kind of documents you create with LilyPond?

Thanks for the blog; I expect to be a regular!
I sing in a chorus and take piano lessons, We sing jazz-era pop and sacred, and I play “easy” stuff.
I’m actually using an alternative staff (7-5) and “shape notes” and am trying to learn how to get Lilypond to do that. My next challenge is to “improve” rhythm notation.
