Short question for Finale and Sibelius users

When I was writing my previous post, I’ve became curious about one thing concerning copy-and-paste in proprietary notation software:  if there are any Finale or Sibelius users reading this post, could you please tell us if it’s possible to copy one voice from/into a polyphonic staff in these programs?  For example, copy an alto part from one file and paste it into soprano staff in another file, creating a two-voiced staff?

Yes, that’s perfectly possible (in Sibelius; I pretty much assume it should be possible in Finale too, but then again I’m still often surprised by finding out what Finale is lacking).

Thanks for info, Corey! I would really like to have both Finale and Sibelius and test them myself, but i can’t afford to spend several hundred dollars just to satisfy my curiosity… Especially that there is no Linux version available 🙁

Actually, I had installed Finale 2012 demo some time ago, when I was still using Windows. Unfortunately, it expired before i had the opportunity to check everything… This is the problem with time-limited demos – I would have to pause some other tasks to have enough time for testing, and I cannot do this 🙁 It doesn’t make sense to install a 30-day demo if I would use it for 10 minutes a day on average.
